Billion Dollar Lawsuits: When Litigation Finance Met Mass Torts
Mass tort litigation has become a booming industry, with billions of dollars at stake for plaintiffs, lawyers, and investors.
The litigation finance industry has taken notice, pouring money into these lawsuits attracted by the potential of high returns. In 2023, for example, litigation funders funneled nearly $17 billion into lawsuits like the Camp Lejuene and 3M earplug cases. These suits are driven by extensive digital advertising campaigns to identify potential claimants.
For the law firms bringing these cases, this can lead to massive paydays. Lawyers typically taking 20-40% if they're successful, and that can amount to billions of dollars in high-profile cases.

In this video, we look at how lower courts are struggling with the ...

There is no need to guarantee freedom of speech for inoffensive, innocuous expression; the first amendment was written to protect offensive speech, the kind that inspires outrage, the kind that people think should be illegal. The first amendment was one of the more controversial parts of the Bill of Rights, and has remained so since its inception, but it is also the reason why we have liberty in this country, as opposed to all the other countries around the world where people live in various states of oppression from their governments, where open expression of one’s thoughts may result in jail time. If you don’t believe in freedom of speech for the people whose speech offends you, then you don’t believe in freedom of speech.

It’s lawyers’ fault for accepting this. Caveat emptor. You sunk 200k on a degree that teaches you your own irrationality in pursuing this pyramid-shaped organization that you basically have no hope of advancement in (and even if you did, your reward is more work, depression, anxiety, and over-eating). No one thinks that the law is prestigious; in fact, it’s the most hated profession by far.

I still think that there would be more outrage from the public if these were destroyed than there ever was from any mass shooting. It is sad but true that the public and most of the elites only cares about themselves and their vanity than they do about others.

Nixon wanted to give the states so much power he might have took it too far. Allowing states to use federal money however they wanted means some states might not give opportunities for growth thanks to Nixon wanting to focus on growing the rich instead of allowing the federal government to grow the poor.

I’m excited to share an idea that can revolutionize AI ethics. AI is transforming our world, but to ensure it benefits everyone, we need a more inclusive and transparent platform for sharing ideas. That’s why I’ve developed a contribution-based framework focused on originality, relevance, impact, and feasibility. It also addresses intellectual property and protects against evasive prompting to steal ideas. Here’s how it works: - Define Contributions: We categorize inputs into ideas, solutions, and feedback. - Structured Review: Automated assessments, peer reviews, and expert evaluations ensure fair consideration. - Transparency: All contributions and evaluations are documented, attributed, labeled, and accessible. - Ethical Protections: We advocate for strong protections for intellectual property and proper recognition for contributors. - Community Engagement: We build a collaborative community to refine and support ideas. By creating a platform where everyone can share and improve ideas with fair reviews and strong protections, we can make AI development more ethical and inclusive. This framework aims to promote more ethical, innovative, and inclusive AI development. I would hope if you would like to join this journey by sharing your thoughts and supporting innovators and paradigm thinkers alike. This system can be an addition or a small rework of previous structures. Hope this peaks your interest users.

The current property tax system in the US is unjust. Primary residences should be exempt, with taxation reserved for secondary homes and investment properties. As it stands, the system disproportionately burdens low-income individuals while the wealthy continue to profit from real estate without significant impact from property taxes.

Sounds like a mens rea culpability matter but tied up with claims of no precedent but that creates a circular view. They are educated and work in law but ignorance is suppose to be no defense, it is therefore very egregious thw avwrage citizen is punished or found against in context where they couldnt have known the law even in non violwnt sutuations ans with how confusing law is front to back. Judges have immunity from an Indiana case where due peocess was passed over on a claim a young lady was mentally defective so she was basically surgically neutered no different than a dog and the Judge was given absolute immunity. That is not equality before the law. Like the slight difference between laying down and kneeling, Nazis have executed in a manner so it could be inferred by law to have happened before. Qualified immunity began with clerical errors and the like in administration.

Payed nothing for a public defender and was satisfied with the results. Asked a lawyer to represent me and he wanted $6000 for the same service. Lawyers take advantage of the situation your in because they know your in a very bad and scary situation and if you don't know whats going on or what to do they will prey on it. Public defenders on the other hand don't get payed as much so they are doing their job out of their heart. Go with the lawyers who's motive is to help you, not for profit.

Sky-high school taxes are the biggest problem for many New York State property owners who suffer from the highest property taxes in America. The teachers' unions love the current system where the school budget votes are deliberately held in May, six months out-of-sync with the general elections. This is done to ensure a minimal voter turnout and voter suppression that strongly favors participation from the teachers, school employees, PTA members and parents who want exorbitant budgets paid for by their neighbors. If the school budgets were voted on in the November elections many school budgets would go down in flames. The way to fix the problem would be to divide each school district's annual budget in half and collect half of the amount from the property owners as is currently done. Then, collect the other half as a per capita "User Fee" from the parents of the children using the schools. New York State loves to levy “user fees”. It’s not a “tax” it’s a “user fee”. Immediately the parent who have been supporting unlimited school budgets paid for by their neighbors would be screaming for budget cuts. See how that works.

John Ehrlichman (top white house aid of President Nixon) said the following in an interview according to a publication by CNN (Cable News Network) over 7 years ago . . . . . “You understand what I’m saying? We knew we couldn’t make it illegal to be either against the war or black, but by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and blacks with heroin. And then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities,” Ehrlichman said. “We could arrest their leaders. raid their homes, break up their meetings, and vilify them night after night on the evening news. Did we know we were lying about the drugs? Of course we did.”

Esg is terrible because every corporation has a God given right to exploit the environment and society to the max, free from all leftist regulation and laws. Who cares about the future generation when stock prices are going up and I made money this fiscal quarter? If companies can dump their waste into the rivers and seas and clear cut forests so that I can see a 10% increase in profit next year, then by all means they should do it! I don't eat fish anyway.
